Government Media Office: Gaza city contains 51,544 buildings targeted by Israeli enemy for forced displacement

The Government Media Office in Gaza stated on Saturday that Gaza City contains 51,544 residential buildings and towers, which are being deliberately targeted by the Israeli enemy as part of a systematic plan of forced displacement.

In a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the office strongly condemned the Israeli military’s targeting of residential towers and buildings in Gaza City, stressing that the city comprises 51,544 structures including buildings and towers.

It categorically rejected what it described as false claims and fabrications propagated by the Israeli side to justify its brutal aggression. The office refuted these allegations, clarifying that the Israeli enemy falsely claims the presence of military activities or so-called “terrorist infrastructure” inside these towers.

“We affirm decisively, with the testimony of the residents of these towers, that they are under surveillance, accessible only to civilians, and that the resistance does not operate from inside them at all. They are completely free of weapons, equipment, or fortifications, with all floors visible and open to the public,” the statement read.

The office added that these false claims are part of a deliberate misinformation campaign aimed at justifying attacks on civilians and infrastructure, as well as spreading fear to force residents into displacement.

It emphasized that such actions constitute a systematic crime of forced displacement, amounting to a crime against humanity under international humanitarian law, the Fourth Geneva Convention, and the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.

The statement continued: “Although the Israeli enemy claims to have taken ‘measures to minimize civilian harm,’ field evidence shows that aerial bombardments of towers directly target civilian buildings and thousands of overcrowded tents sheltering displaced families, without any legitimate military necessity. This represents a flagrant violation of the principles of distinction and proportionality enshrined in international humanitarian law, and constitutes a full-fledged war crime.”

The office further stressed that this crime is part of a systematic pattern of targeting residential towers, homes, and civilian facilities with the aim of destroying Gaza’s social and economic fabric and imposing a new demographic reality through bombings, massacres, and fabricated security pretexts.

It added: “In the face of this dangerous conspiracy, we salute the resilience of our great Palestinian people against the ongoing Israeli aggression and their immense sacrifices in defending their land and rights. Palestinians have demonstrated unyielding will and determination to endure despite siege, destruction, forced displacement, while preserving their dignity and national pride.”

The Government Media Office called on the international community, the United Nations, the International Criminal Court, and global human rights organizations to break their silence, condemn these clear crimes, urgently launch an international investigation, hold Israeli leaders , military accountable, and ensure an immediate end to the targeting of civilians and infrastructure, while protecting the population from Israel’s policy of killing and forced displacement.
