The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates affirmed on Saturday that the US’s use of its veto against a draft resolution submitted by the ten non-permanent members of the Security Council, calling for an immediate, unconditional, and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, is new evidence of America’s complicity in the genocidal crimes in the Strip.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained that the US has used its veto power six times since the beginning of the aggression on Gaza, and has used it dozens of times over the past eight decades to thwart resolutions calling for an end to the occupation or condemning settlements and ongoing Zionist crimes and violations of international law.
It noted that eighty years after the establishment of the United Nations and ten thousand Security Council meetings, the time has come to reform the Council, particularly its membership system and voting mechanism, so that it can fulfill its role of maintaining international peace and security and so that it no longer remains hostage to America, which uses it to protect the Zionist entity at the expense of the blood of the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the report of the United Nations Independent International Commission of Inquiry confirming that the Zionist entity has committed crimes of genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza, calling on the international community to work to end these crimes and punish those responsible, the Zionist war criminals.
It reiterated the Republic of Yemen’s firm and supportive position toward the Palestinian people and their heroic mujahideen in confronting the barbaric Zionist aggression against Gaza and all of Palestine.
