Israeli forces continue their escalating aggression against the city of Tulkarm and its camps in the occupied West Bank, with their bulldozers today, Wednesday, carrying out extensive demolition operations at the entrance of Tulkarm Camp, which has been under siege for 283 days.
The Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that Israeli heavy bulldozers were seen leveling Al-Wakala Street at the northern entrance of the camp, causing further damage to infrastructure that had already been destroyed in previous phases of the aggression.
Israeli forces continue to prevent camp residents from accessing their houses, having tightened military measures , closed all entrances by installing iron gates and concrete blocks, particularly on the western side. They also set up earthen barriers in the area connecting the camp with the Zanaba suburb and in the eastern neighborhood of the city adjacent to the camp. Several civilian houses were seized and converted into military barracks.
This escalation comes as aggression and the siege on the neighboring Nur Shams Camp continue for the 270th consecutive day. Today, residents staged a protest at one of the camp entrances in Jabal al-Nasr neighborhood, demanding to return to their homes and rejecting forced displacement. Israeli forces, however, blocked their progress and forced them to leave under threat of arms.
Meanwhile, the city of Tulkarm and its suburbs, especially the areas of Iktaba and Shweikeh, are witnessing 24-hour military reinforcements, with Israeli vehicles patrolling the streets and obstructing movement by installing mobile checkpoints at several intersections.
The ongoing aggression has led to the forced displacement of more than 5,000 families from Tulkarm and Nur Shams camps, affecting over 25,000 residents. Additionally, more than 600 homes have been completely destroyed, and 2,573 homes partially damaged, turning the camps into virtually lifeless areas.
So far, the aggression has claimed the lives of 14 Palestinian civilians, including a child and two women, one of whom was eight months pregnant, in addition to dozens of injured and detained individuals. Widespread destruction has also affected houses, infrastructure, shops, and vehicles.
