Foreign Affairs Ministry: UN Security Council Decision on Gaza legalizes foreign oversight of Palestinians

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates considered the recent UN Security Council decision on Gaza as a legalization of foreign oversight over the Palestinians, constituting a blatant violation of Palestine’s sovereignty and a flagrant interference in its internal affairs.

In a statement, the Ministry affirmed that the decision clearly ignored the established rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them the right to end the occupation, exercise self-determination, and establish an independent Palestinian state over its entire national territory.

The statement pointed out that the United States is attempting through this decision to achieve goals that the Israeli entity failed to accomplish through the mass atrocities it committed against the Palestinian people over the past two years.

The Ministry emphasized that any projects that bypass or undermine the rights of the Palestinian people are doomed to fail, noting that the Security Council’s decision once again reflects its ongoing inability to stop the aggression and siege imposed on Gaza.

It added that despite the mass atrocities committed by the Israeli occupation—which shame humanity—the Council remained incapable of issuing decisive resolutions compelling Israel to halt its aggression and respect international humanitarian law.

The Ministry also stressed that Arab and Islamic countries should have exerted pressure to ensure the decision includes the rights of the Palestinian people, rather than adopting positions that weaken the Palestinian stance and allow for decisions that undermine Palestinian sovereignty and its established rights.

The statement reaffirmed that the Palestinian issue will remain the central cause of the Arab and Islamic nations, and that achieving peace and stability in the region can only be realized by ending the injustice against the Palestinian people and enabling them to obtain all their legitimate rights.

Finally, the Ministry reiterated the principled and steadfast position of the Republic of Yemen in supporting the Palestinian people’s right to end the occupation, aggression, siege, and to establish the Palestinian state over its entire territory with Al-Quds as its capital.
