China strongly opposes interference in Venezuela’s internal affairs under any pretext

China affirmed on Saturday its strong opposition to foreign interference in Venezuela’s internal affairs under any pretext, calling on all parties to avoid further escalation of the situation.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian stressed at a press conference that Beijing opposes any actions that violate the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and infringe upon the sovereignty and security of other countries, according to Xinhua News Agency.

He urged all parties to jointly uphold the status of Latin America and the Caribbean as a region of peace.

Earlier today, US President Donald Trump announced the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife and their removal from the country.

Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social, “The United States of America successfully carried out a large-scale strike against Venezuela and its leader. US law enforcement authorities participated in the operation,” he claimed.
