Civil Defense in Gaza: Winds Caused Destruction and Dispersal of Thousands of Displaced Persons’ Tents
Basal indicated in press statements that thousands of displaced persons’ tents were scattered in various areas of the Strip, warning of serious repercussions from the current low-pressure system amid the deteriorating humanitarian conditions experienced by the displaced, according to the “Sanad” News Agency.
He explained that wind speeds reached about 60 kilometers per hour, confirming that what is happening “is not a weather crisis” but a direct result of the Israeli enemy preventing the entry of construction materials and disrupting reconstruction efforts. This leaves tens of thousands of Palestinian citizens in unsafe tents unable to withstand harsh weather conditions.
Basal pointed out that repeated low-pressure systems turn into humanitarian disasters in the absence of protective means and the continuation of the Zionist blockade imposed on the Strip.
Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are living in tents and temporary shelters after the Israeli enemy army destroyed their homes, while their suffering worsens with the onset of winter. Amid strict restrictions on the entry of construction materials and shelter supplies, the risks of exposure to humanitarian damage increase with every rainy or stormy weather event.
