Ayatollah Khamenei: Iranian people broke back of recent US-backed sedition

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, affirmed on Saturday that the Iranian people have broken the back of the recent US-backed sedition.

During a meeting with a group of people from various segments of society in Tehran on the occasion of the anniversary of the Prophet’s mission, Ayatollah Khamenei indicated that the Iranian people had the final say in this sedition through their unity.

The Iranian leader described US President Donald Trump as a “criminal” for the losses, damages, and slander he inflicted on the Iranian people, noting that the United States supported the sedition in Iran as a prelude to a larger operation it intended to carry out.

He reviewed the nature of the recent events, their tools, and the duties incumbent upon the people in confronting the recent sedition, holding the US administration responsible for the losses and damages suffered by the people.

He revealed that the United States aimed to swallow up Iran through the recent unrest, emphasizing that this sedition was quelled by the people, officials, and conscientious elements.

Mr. Khamenei announced the arrest of a large number of leaders and instigators of the riots and sabotage, revealing that “American and Zionist intelligence trained the leaders of the rioters abroad,” and that the government will continue to confront the chaos.

He said, “We are not leading the country into war, but we will not tolerate criminals within,” adding, “We have extinguished the sedition, but this is not enough, and America must be held accountable.”

He pointed out that “what distinguishes this sedition from previous ones in Iran is that the American president personally intervened, threatening, encouraging, and supporting the instigators.”

The Leader of the Iranian Revolution affirmed that the Americans cannot tolerate the existence of a country with these characteristics in this sensitive geographical location, with these capabilities and this scientific and technological advancement.

He pointed out that since the beginning of the Iranian revolution until today, the enemies have been thinking about bringing Iran back under their military, political and economic dominance, stressing that “this is the goal and this is America’s policy.”
