Lebanese President condemns Israeli aggression & considers it dangerous escalation

Lebanese President, Michel Aoun, condemned the Israeli assaults that targeted villages and towns in southern Lebanon on Wednesday.

According to the Lebanese National News Agency, the Lebanese President said: “Once again, ‘Israel’ proceeds with its policy of systematic aggression by launching airstrikes on inhabited Lebanese villages, in a dangerous escalation that directly affects civilians and aims to terrorize them and threaten their daily security, in a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and the most basic rules for the protection of civilian populations.”

He considered that “this repeated aggressive behavior reaffirms once more ‘Israel’s’ refusal to adhere to its commitments arising from the agreement to cease hostilities.”

President Aoun held “Israel” fully responsible for the repercussions of these assaults, calling on the international community, particularly the sponsoring parties of the agreement, to shoulder their legal and political responsibilities and to take clear and effective measures to stop these violations and put an end to the policy of impunity, in order to ensure the protection of civilians and preserve security and stability in Lebanon and the region.
