Al- Shifa Complex Director in Gaza: Opening Rafah crossing under such mechanism is not real relief but merely symbolic

The Director of Al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza, Mohammad Abu Salmiya, emphasized today, Sunday, that opening the Rafah Crossing under this limited mechanism does not constitute real relief, but is rather a symbolic opening that fails to meet even the minimum humanitarian needs in Gaza.

In a post on his Facebook page, , Salmiya said: “Allowing only very small numbers of patients to leave daily, despite thousands of critical cases, means managing the crisis rather than solving it, putting patients’ lives at risk.”

He affirmed that the right to medical treatment is a human right that must not be restricted or subjected to political considerations.

He called for the full and permanent opening of the Rafah Crossing under a clear humanitarian mechanism.
