China strongly condemns, firmly opposes Assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei

China has strongly condemned and firmly opposed the attack and killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Sunday.

The spokesperson explained, according to China’s Xinhua News Agency, that the attack and killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader represents a serious violation of Iran’s sovereignty and security, adding that it undermines the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter and the basic norms governing international relations.

China urges an immediate cessation of military operations, refraining from further escalating the tense situation, and making joint efforts to maintain peace and stability in the Middle East and the entire world, the spokesperson stated.

On Saturday morning, the United States and the Israeli entity launched a new aggression against Iran, which resulted in hundreds of civilian casualties.

In response to the aggression, Iran announced the beginning of “Operation True Promise 4” against the Israeli entity and American bases in the region.
