Yemenis on International Quds Day: A Firm Affirmation of the Centrality of the Palestinian Cause & Support for Its People
The Yemeni people, along with the free people of the nation and the world, commemorate today, Friday, International Quds Day, which represents a major annual station to renew the principled position and moral commitment to supporting the Palestinian people and backing their valiant resistance in the face of the arrogance of the Zionist entity, supported by the forces of global arrogance led by “America and Europe.”
The commemoration of this day, proclaimed by Imam Khomeini on the last Friday of the blessed month of Ramadan, embodies a position that transcends being a mere transient event, becoming a political and cultural manifestation that reflects absolute solidarity with the Palestinian cause of injustice and exposes the falsehood of settlement projects and conspiracies aimed at liquidating the cause and fragmenting the region.
The importance of this occasion is evident in keeping the flame of the Palestinian cause alive in the conscience of the nation, and consolidating popular and international rejection of the occupation of Jerusalem and the desecration of holy sites, foremost among them the Blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque. This day also carries profound symbolism in declaring complete alignment with the front of truth against the forces of hegemony and colonialism.
As an opportunity for Islamic unity, Quds Day contributes to rousing peoples and mobilizing them to support their just causes, affirming the lofty status of Holy Jerusalem, the first of the two Qiblas and the third holiest site, and the place of the Isra’ of the Great Messenger (peace be upon him and his family), in the hearts of free people who make immense sacrifices in defense of the nation’s dignity.
The gathering of the world’s free people on the last Friday of Ramadan in public squares and fields is a powerful message in the face of the Zionist entity, reflecting the vitality of Muslim peoples and their rejection of submission to American and Zionist hegemony projects, along with representing moral support for the Palestinian people and strengthening the unity of arenas in the face of occupation.
The surging popular momentum on Quds Day demonstrates to the entire world that betting on taming the nation’s consciousness or pushing it towards accepting the enemy entity as part of the region is a losing bet. Today, peoples are no longer satisfied with emotional solidarity but have moved to the stage of actual backing and direct participation in the battle of liberation.
This massive popular mobilization places the world before the reality of the categorical popular rejection of the American-Zionist project in the region, transforming the squares into global platforms to expose the brutality of the occupation and the genocide massacres it commits against the people of Gaza and all occupied territories, as well as being a cry of awareness that exposes the conspiracies to liquidate the cause hatched under the cover of normalization with subservient regimes.
In this context, the steadfast positions of Yemen, leadership and people, stand out. The Leader of the Revolution, Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, affirmed in his speech on the occasion of International Quds Day that the Palestinian cause will remain the central cause of the nation, and that Yemen is religiously, principledly, and morally committed to supporting the Palestinian people and defending its holy sites, foremost among them the Blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.
He renewed the affirmation of the steadfast religious stance in the face of the Zionist enemy and its aggressive plans against the Islamic nation, considering the commemoration of International Quds Day an important occasion to remind the nation of its religious and historical responsibility towards the major cause of the era.
The Leader explained that this occasion reminds the Islamic nation of its responsibility to confront the Zionist danger that occupies Palestine, Jerusalem, and parts of Arab lands, and also represents an opportunity to rouse the nation to fulfill its duties in facing this danger and defending its causes and holy sites.
With increasing challenges and the collusion of colonialist powers against the peoples of the region, International Quds Day remains a living witness that the Palestinian right does not die, and that the voices of free people will continue to ring out for freedom until the entire holy land is purified, no matter the sacrifices or the attempts by the forces of arrogance to obliterate the identity of the cause and remove it from consciousness.
