The spokesperson of the Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters of the Iranian Army strongly denied, on Saturday, claims made by the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) regarding the alleged approach and entry of U.S. naval vessels into the Strait of Hormuz.
Ibrahim Zolfaghari said in a statement that “the initiative and authority over the passage of any naval vessel through the Strait lies with the Iranian Armed Forces.”
Meanwhile, talks between Iranian and American delegations began on Saturday in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, following indications of progress in implementing a ceasefire agreement, including in southern Lebanon.
The Strait of Hormuz remains a key strategic maritime route in the region.
