The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) considered that the report issued by the United Nations and the European Union on the damage and needs assessment in the Gaza Strip confirms the scale of the unprecedented humanitarian and economic catastrophe witnessed in the Gaza Strip as a result of the genocide war waged by the Zionist enemy, and the urgent and effective international action it requires.
The movement said in a press statement on Tuesday that what the report mentioned about the Gaza Strip needing more than $71 billion for reconstruction, and the necessity of immediately starting a recovery program to restore basic services and rebuild vital infrastructure, confirms the seriousness of the humanitarian situation in the Strip, and that more than two and a quarter million people are now facing a lack of the most basic necessities of life.
It affirmed that the Zionist enemy is systematically working to deepen the suffering of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and is preventing all attempts at recovery and rebuilding the basic infrastructure of life, as an extension of the brutal genocide war targeting the Palestinian people and their existence on their land.
Hamas called on the United Nations, Arab countries, the European Union, and mediators to pressure for a binding mechanism for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, and to mobilize an effective international position that stops the terrorist enemy government’s political exploitation of aid and the suffering of innocent civilians, and compels it to implement its obligations under the ceasefire agreement, including those related to the humanitarian aspect.
