Foreign Affairs Ministry: Resolving situation in Hormuz Strait depends on ending US-Israeli aggression against Iran

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates followed the open discussion held by the Security Council yesterday on maritime security.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the US-Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran and US piracy in the Gulf of Oman have imposed a heavy cost on the world, manifested in disruptions to supply chains and maritime navigation, as well as rising transport costs , increasing prices of energy and food.

The Ministry condemned US piracy in the Gulf of Oman, as well as attacks on Iranian commercial vessels and the detention of their crews, considering these acts a flagrant violation of international law and freedom of navigation.

It also affirmed the legitimacy of Iran’s measures in the Strait of Hormuz, and the right of states to self-defense and to regulate navigation within their territorial waters in order to confront security threats.

The statement stressed that the only solution to the situation in Hormuz lies in addressing the root causes, namely the US-Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

It warned certain parties outside the region against slipping into any steps that would further complicate the situation and cause severe damage to supply chains, energy prices, and the already affected global economy as a result of what it described as the brutality of criminal Trump and his Zionist partners.

The Ministry welcomed Pakistani mediation efforts aimed at ending the US-Israeli aggression against Iran.

It further affirmed that Yemen is not neutral regarding the ongoing attacks on Iran, Lebanon, and Palestine, and that its position is clear, declared, and explicit in this regard.
