Diplomatic Talks in Switzerland to Discuss Implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding Between Washington, Tehran
A diplomatic source told Agence France-Presse that these talks are of a preparatory nature.
Swiss public broadcaster RTS reported that delegations from the United States and Iran, as well as from the two mediating countries, Qatar and Pakistan, are participating in the discussions.
The Swiss Foreign Ministry stated that “Switzerland continues to provide a discreet and reliable setting to facilitate talks at Bürgenstock on the implementation of the memorandum of understanding between the US and Iran”. The ministry added that “diplomats from various countries currently present are continuing their efforts to maintain the dialogue,” but declined to provide further details on the participants or the discussions due to confidentiality.
The talks were originally scheduled for Friday but were postponed due to escalating tensions in Lebanon. Pakistani mediators confirmed that technical-level talks will begin on Sunday, June 21, at Bürgenstock, with representatives from the US and Iran, along with mediators from Pakistan and Qatar, participating in the discussions.
