The event was organized by the mobilization department and the women’s committee under the slogan: “How can we accept humiliation.”
At the gathering, participants raised their voices with the call of Karbala, renewing the revolutionary spirit in the consciousness of the nation, and drawing attention to the causes of negligence that led to the tragedy resulting from the nation’s failure to support Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).
The participants considered the Ashura anniversary an ongoing path of awareness from which peoples derive tools of advancement, building upon it concepts of freedom , justice, drawing from it the courage to speak the truth and confront injustice.
During the event, cultural activist Bushra Al-Houthi affirmed that the revolution of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) represents the revolution of free people, that victory for faith and the elevation of Allah’s word require the kind of sacrifice embodied by Imam Hussein in Karbala in both word and deed.
She pointed out that the Yemeni people continue on the path of liberating every inch of national territory, maintaining general mobilization and full readiness to implement leadership directives regardless of challenges.
She further explained that Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), through his blessed uprising, represents an authentic extension of Islam as a model of guidance and leadership, citing the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family): “Hussein is from me and I am from Hussein. Allah loves those who love Hussein. Hussein is a grandson among grandsons.”
Bushra Al-Houthi noted that Ashura represented the greatest test of loyalty when the nation failed the test of support, stressing that the scene is being repeated today in Gaza, Lebanon, Iran, and Yemen, where innocent people are killed and houses are destroyed, while truth continues to call upon living consciences to assume their responsibilities.
She urged drawing lessons and insights from the Ashura anniversary and adhering to the principles of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) in confronting the challenges facing the nation, highlighting the importance of this occasion in strengthening values of resilience and steadfastness.
The gathering listened to a speech by Leader Abdul-Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, which addressed the spiritual and educational meanings of the uprising of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), and the importance of drawing lessons from Ashura in building awareness, insight, steadfastness in confronting forces of tyranny and arrogance. He emphasized responsible action in support of the issues of the nation, foremost among them the Palestinian cause, and adherence to the values of truth, justice, and dignity embodied by the revolution of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) in Karbala.
