Health Ministry: 174 Killed, Wounded in Saudi Strikes Since Early September

Yemen’s Ministry of Health and Environment said that 174 people have been killed or wounded in Saudi airstrikes and attacks across six provinces since the latest escalation began on September 3.

In a statement, the ministry pointed out that the toll through September 27 included 67 fatalities and 107 injuries, with women and children accounting for most of the casualties. It said that the Saudi airstrikes and missile attacks, along with shelling by Saudi-backed forces, targeted Taiz, Al Jawf, Hodeidah, Ibb, Sa’adah, Hajja and Sana’a provinces.

The ministry stated that the reported casualties add to Saudi crimes against the Yemeni people.

Yemen has faced continuous US-Saudi aggression and a comprehensive blockade since 2015, resulting in severe economic disruption and the deterioration of public services. The targeting of critical infrastructure, combined with restrictions on imports and financial flows, has significantly reduced state revenues and weakened key institutions.

Despite these challenges, Yemeni authorities have repeatedly highlighted efforts to maintain basic services and stabilize the economy under wartime conditions, while calling attention to the humanitarian and economic impact of the blockade on the population.
