Taiz Rights Network condemns continued targeting of civilians by Saudi aggression, its mercenaries

Taiz Network for Rights and Freedoms has condemned, in the strongest terms, the continued direct and systematic targeting of civilians, infrastructure, and civilian objects in Taiz Governorate by the Saudi aggressor and its mercenaries.

In a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (SABA), the Network reported that the latest crime committed by the Saudi aggressor and its mercenaries occurred yesterday evening, when a mortar shell was fired into a densely populated residential area in the Al-Arsh–Hadhran zone of Al-Ta’iziyah District, resulting in the death and injury of women and children.

The Network expressed its profound condemnation of the continued militarization of the city center by the Saudi aggressor’s mercenaries, noting that these criminal militias have deliberately established checkpoints and roadblocks to restrict the movement of citizens and prevent them from leaving the city.

The Network pointed out that, under the provisions of international humanitarian law, the Geneva Conventions, and the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, the direct and indiscriminate targeting of residential homes constitutes a clear violation of the principles of distinction and proportionality, and qualifies as a full-fledged war crime.

It further stated that the deliberate targeting of women and children within their own homes constitutes a flagrant violation of the right to life and human dignity, amounting to a crime against humanity.

Taiz Network for Rights and Freedoms holds the Saudi aggressor and its mercenaries fully responsible for this massacre and for all crimes committed against civilians.

The network called upon the United Nations, the Security Council, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, and international organizations to condemn the militarization of the city and to ensure that the perpetrators of these crimes do not go unpunished.
