Advisory Statement from Hamas Spokesperson: Issue Is Not Resistance’s Weapons but Zionist occupation
Tahir al-Nunu, media advisor to the head of the political bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), stated on Wednesday that the core of the crisis does not lie in the movement’s weapons, but in the continued existence of the Zionist occupation, emphasizing that ending the enemy is the real pathway to achieving peace.
Al-Nunu, in remarks to Al Jazeera, noted that the participation of Arab and Islamic countries in the Peace Council represents an important step. He highlighted the movement’s focus on the council’s role in eliminating the occupation and rebuilding the Gaza Strip, especially in light of the extensive destruction caused by the aggression.
He added that Israel has no interest in achieving peace in Gaza, pointing out that the ongoing violations are deliberate attempts to obstruct the ceasefire agreement. Al-Nunu affirmed that Hamas has fully adhered to the terms of the agreement and has refrained from responding to these violations out of respect for its commitments and to allow the stabilization of the truce.
Al-Nunu p that while the enemy continues to prolong the suffering of the Palestinian people, Hamas will persist in its political and national efforts until forcing the enemy to withdraw from the Gaza Strip.
Since October 7, 2023, Israeli forces, with U.S. and European support, have carried out a campaign of genocide in Gaza, including killing, starvation, destruction, displacement, and arrests, disregarding international appeals and rulings from the International Court of Justice to halt these actions.
