Ain Al-Insaniyah condemns Saudi enemy’s targeting of civilian facilities in Taiz, Ibb
The center explained in a statement that the Saudi enemy today targeted the main road in Naqil Al-Shaq – Bab Al-Barh in Al-Sha’r area in Ibb Governorate, and also launched two raids on Al-Ahkom sub-district in Hayfan District in Taiz Governorate, one of which targeted the water project of Al-Akbous area, while the other targeted the telecommunications network, in a direct attack on civilian facilities that provide basic services to residents.
It pointed out that the Saudi aggression aircraft also targeted Al-Dalil Bridge in Al-MakhaDir District in Ibb Governorate, threatening one of the vital crossings for the movement of citizens and the transport of materials and basic needs, and adding new damage to the civilian infrastructure that has been destroyed and targeted during the years of aggression.
The center affirmed that targeting water projects, telecommunications networks, roads, bridges, and civilian facilities cannot be justified by any military considerations as long as these facilities are of a civilian nature and perform their services for the population, explaining that protecting civilians and civilian objects represents a fundamental obligation under the rules of international humanitarian law.
The Ain Al-Insaniyah Center held the Saudi authorities and those conducting military operations fully responsible for these attacks and the direct and indirect damage resulting from them against civilians, demanding an end to targeting facilities and civilian objects and refraining from exposing the lives of residents and their basic interests to danger.
It warned that the continued targeting of civilian infrastructure, especially water sources, telecommunications networks, roads, and bridges, would exacerbate the humanitarian and living conditions of the population and deepen the effects of the aggression on civilians, especially in areas that depend on these facilities to meet their daily needs.
It also called on the United Nations and international organizations and bodies concerned with human rights and international humanitarian law to assume their responsibilities in documenting these attacks, and to work to protect civilian objects and the population from targeting.
The Ain Al-Insaniyah Center for Rights and Development stressed that the continuation of bombing and targeting vital facilities will only lead to more humanitarian suffering and the destruction of the components of civilian life, affirming that the international community is required to take serious and effective steps to stop these attacks and ensure respect for the rules of international humanitarian law.
