Araghchi: No military solution to Yemen crisis; Bab al-Mandab requires regional dialogue

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said there is no military solution to the Yemen crisis or the Bab al-Mandab issue, stressing that disputes should be resolved through dialogue among regional parties.

He said the roots of the Yemen crisis predate Iran and stem from longstanding regional disputes, adding that Tehran supports dialogue between Yemen, Saudi Arabia, other countries and is ready to play a constructive role.

Araghchi also said Iran’s strikes on US bases during the recent 40-day war were carried out as part of “legitimate self-defense,” while emphasizing that Iran does not seek hostility with neighboring countries.

He called for regional cooperation and collective security, saying stability cannot be achieved through reliance on foreign powers and that dialogue is the path toward resolving disputes.
