The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Abdulwahid Abu Ras, met today with the Director of the Office of the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy to Yemen, Muhammad Al-Ghannam.
During the meeting, the Deputy Foreign Minister expressed appreciation for the efforts exerted by the Office of the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy to achieve comprehensive and lasting peace in Yemen.
He reaffirmed Sana’a’s keenness to build a sound relationship with the United Nations, based on respect for Yemen’s sovereignty, stability, and security, and commitment to its national laws.
He also emphasized the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ commitment to providing all necessary facilities to organizations working in Yemen, enabling them to perform their humanitarian duty and contribute to alleviating the humanitarian suffering endured by the Yemeni people due to the continued aggression, siege, and hostile policies towards Yemen.
For his part, the Director of the Special Envoy’s Office briefed the Deputy Foreign Minister on the latest developments regarding the implementation of the prisoner exchange agreement and the efforts being made by the office to advance this humanitarian file.
He also addressed the recent UN Security Council resolution concerning the United Nations Mission to Support the Hudaydah Agreement (UNMHA) and the role assigned to the Special Envoy’s office in this context.
