Explosions Heard in Qeshm, Konarak, Sirik, Jask, & Bandar Abbas in Southern Iran

Iran’s “Tasnim” news agency reported this evening, Tuesday, that explosions were heard in the cities of Bandar Abbas, Sirik, Konarak, Jask, and Qeshm Island.

The agency added that reports were received of explosion sounds in several points in southern Iran, and also quoted local sources as saying that explosions had occurred in various areas.

It said: “At 19:30 local time, local sources reported hearing the sound of six explosions in the Konarak area, although local authorities have not yet announced precise details regarding the locations of the explosions or the extent of possible damage caused by them.”

It explained that at least eight explosions were heard on the southern coast of Qeshm Island between 19:30 and 19:45.

According to initial reports from local sources, a fishmeal factory in the city of Suza was hit, but details of possible human or material losses and damage are still being verified, and no official information has been issued on the matter so far.

At the same time, field reports indicated that explosion sounds were heard in some areas of Bandar Abbas and Sirik.

According to initial information, part of the explosion sounds heard in the area resulted from clashes and confrontations between military forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran and hostile targets within the Strait of Hormuz.

Some unofficial reports also spoke of explosion sounds being heard near Qeshm Airport.

According to Tasnim, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed carrying out an attack on southern Iran.

Details regarding the targets of the attack, the extent of possible damage, and the dimensions of these operations are still under review.
