Foreign Affairs Ministry condemns UN Secretary-General’s interference in internal affairs of Yemen

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates expressed on Wednesday its strong disapproval of the statement issued by the UN Secretary-General regarding the detainees from spy cells and the referral of some of them to the competent judiciary.

In a statement issued by the Ministry, it condemned the Secretary-General’s statement, considering it a blatant and unacceptable interference in the internal affairs of the Republic of Yemen and a violation of the principle of respecting the sovereignty of states and the independence of their judiciaries.
Saba: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates expressed on Wednesday its strong disapproval of the statement issued by the UN Secretary-General regarding the detainees from spy cells and the referral of some of them to the competent judiciary.

In a statement issued by the Ministry, it condemned the Secretary-General’s statement, considering it a blatant and unacceptable interference in the internal affairs of the Republic of Yemen and a violation of the principle of respecting the sovereignty of states and the independence of their judiciaries.

The Ministry stressed that the measures taken against the implicated individuals were in accordance with the law and after their involvement in acts targeting Yemen’s security and stability was proven.

It affirmed that the Yemeni judiciary is an independent authority, and no one has the right to overstep its bounds, interfere in its proceedings, or question its rulings.

The Ministry indicated that the Secretary-General should have condemned the aggression targeting the Yemeni government and launched an internal investigation into it, instead of blaming Sana’a, which fulfilled its duty in taking the necessary security and judicial measures to maintain the country’s security, protect its citizens, and ensure justice and accountability.

The ministry called on the Secretary-General to review his negative stances towards Sana’a and to work on correcting the imbalances and abuses that accompanied the performance of the international organization in Yemen during the past period.
