Foreign Ministry criticizes biased positions of Saudi regime

Yemen’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said statements issued by some countries ignoring what it described as the Saudi-imposed blockade on the Yemeni people appeared to follow identical wording and were circulated by either the United States or Saudi Arabia.

In a statement released today, the ministry said it had monitored statements from several countries that deny the existence of the Saudi blockade on Yemen while condemning the Yemeni Armed Forces’ decision to ban maritime navigation involving Saudi Arabia.

The statement questioned whether any country, including those supporting the Saudi position, would accept similar measures against itself, asking whether they would tolerate the closure of their airports, the blockade of their ports, and restrictions preventing goods from entering without Saudi approval.

The ministry said such positions support what it described as the aggression and the Saudi stance while ignoring the Yemeni people’s legitimate rights, suffering, and humanitarian plight.

The Foreign Ministry added that Yemen does not expect positive positions from countries that, in its view, failed to support the Palestinian cause, saying it is unrealistic to expect them to stand with Yemen or any other Arab or Muslim country facing similar hardship in the future.
