Hamas: Any Political Path Discussed Regarding Gaza Must Stem from Cessation of Aggression, Lifting of Siege

The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) commented on the convening of the Peace Council session concerning the Gaza Strip today in the United States of America, stating that any political path or arrangements discussed regarding the Gaza Strip and the future of the Palestinian people must stem from a complete cessation of aggression, the lifting of the siege, and the guarantee of the legitimate national rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among which is their right to freedom and self-determination.

It added in a press statement today, Thursday, that the convening of this session amidst the continuation of the enemy’s crimes and its ongoing violations of the ceasefire agreement obligates the international community, and the parties participating in the council, to take practical steps that compel the enemy to stop its aggression, open crossings, allow the unrestricted entry of humanitarian aid, and immediately commence reconstruction.

The movement called on international parties and mediators to assume their responsibilities in ensuring the implementation of what has been agreed upon, preventing the enemy from disrupting humanitarian and political entitlements, and working seriously to establish a permanent ceasefire.

It affirmed that any genuine international effort to achieve stability in Gaza must be based on addressing the roots of the problem represented by the occupation, ending its aggressive policies, and enabling the Palestinian people to obtain their full, undiminished rights.
