Hebrew media reports: Israel’s military retracts its claim that it could end a war with Iran, after facing “unpredictable and effective” retaliation from Iran’s armed forces
Israel’s military has retracted its earlier claim that it could end a war with Iran within a week, after facing “unpredictable and effective” retaliation from Iran’s armed forces, according to Hebrew media reports.
The Israeli army, facing continued and powerful Iranian drone and missile strikes, has walked back a previous assertion that a potential conflict with Iran would be concluded within seven days.
Haaretz, citing unnamed military sources, reported that Israel’s military leadership has abandoned its earlier assessment about the duration of a war against the Islamic Republic, acknowledging that no clear timeline can now be set.
The retraction comes in the aftermath of a deadly attack by the Israeli regime on Tehran and several other Iranian cities in the early hours of Friday, June 13. The aggression resulted in the martyrdom of several senior Iranian military commanders, scientists, and civilians, including Major General Mohammad Bagheri, Major General Gholamali Rashid, Major General Hossein Salami, Brigadier General Amir-Ali Hajizadeh, Dr. Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi, and Dr. Fereydoun Abbasi-Davani.
Following the attack, Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei issued a stern message to the Zionist regime, stating, “The regime must expect a harsh punishment. The powerful hand of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic will not let it go unpunished, by God’s will.”
In direct response, Iran launched a military operation dubbed True Promise III, targeting Israeli military and strategic sites. The operation, now in its 18th wave, has inflicted significant damage on the occupying regime.
Haaretz further acknowledged the sustained effectiveness of Iran’s missile and drone operations, underlining the Israeli army’s growing concern over its inability to predict or contain the evolving confrontation.
The developments reflect Iran’s strategic depth and military resilience in the face of repeated provocations by the Israeli regime, whose own confidence in a swift military resolution appears to have eroded under pressure.
