International Committee to Break the Gaza Siege: Freedom Flotilla will reach Gaza shores at dawn Thursday if not intercepted
The International Committee to Break the Siege of Gaza announced Wednesday evening that the ships of the Global Freedom Flotilla are scheduled to reach the shores of the Gaza Strip at dawn Thursday if they are not intercepted by Israeli forces.
The committee stated in a post on its Facebook page, as reported by the Yemen News Agency (SABA), that the flotilla was about 195 kilometers from Gaza’s shores before sunset today, with the estimated time of arrival set for dawn Thursday.
It noted that the flotilla has decided that if any ship is intercepted, the other vessels will continue sailing toward Gaza.
The International Committee added: “Tonight will be decisive… raise your voices… we will break leave Gaza alone.”
For several days, the ships participating in the flotilla have been sailing toward Gaza, carrying humanitarian aid, particularly medical supplies, in an attempt to break the Israeli siege.
The Freedom Flotilla includes the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, Global Gaza Movement, Resilience Convoy, and the Malaysian organization “Samudra Nusantara.”
This marks the first time that more than 50 ships are sailing together toward Gaza, carrying 532 civilian activists from over 45 countries.
The Israeli army has imposed a strict blockade on Gaza since March 2, closing all crossings and preventing the entry of food, medicine, or humanitarian aid, plunging the territory into famine despite trucks of relief supplies being stuck at its borders.
The United Nations and its agencies officially declared a famine in Gaza on August 22.
Supported by the United States and European countries, the Israeli army has, since October 7, 2023, continued committing acts of genocide, siege, and starvation in Gaza, resulting in the deaths of 66,097 Palestinian civilians, mostly children and women, and injuries to 168,536 others, with thousands of victims still trapped under rubble or in the streets where rescue teams cannot reach them.
