Iran condemns UAE’s arrest of several people on baseless pretexts

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei condemned on Tuesday the United Arab Emirates’ arrest of several people on flimsy and baseless pretexts.

The official Iranian news agency quoted Baghaei as saying, “Making such baseless claims and creating an anti-Iranian atmosphere cannot distract from the direct responsibility of those supporting and backing the American and Zionist aggressors in the military aggression against Iran.”

He added, “Such projections will not contribute to building trust among the countries of the region,” calling on the UAE government to respect human rights and dignity, avoid retaliatory behavior, and return to the principle of good neighborliness.
