Iranian Foreign Ministry: US Not Serious About Diplomatic Process

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei said on Monday that his country has never trusted the US because it has a long history of betraying diplomacy.

He added in a statement that Tehran has not received any serious offer regarding lifting sanctions, and indications confirm the US side’s lack of seriousness in pursuing the diplomatic path.

He continued: “Part of the agreement included a ceasefire in Lebanon, and we opened the Strait of Hormuz on that basis.”

He emphasized that the US side reneged on its commitment regarding the ceasefire in Lebanon, despite having agreed to it.

He stressed that any potential agreement with the United States must include practical guarantees.

He said: “We have seen the European Union’s positions regarding the massacres in Palestine and Lebanon and the situation in the Strait of Hormuz.”
