The government of the Islamic Republic of Iran announced early Sunday morning a 40-day period of national mourning and a seven-day public holiday following the martyrdom of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
The official Iranian news agency IRNA reported that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei was martyred on Saturday morning as a result of the US-Israeli aggression against the country.
The United States and Israel launched a joint attack on Iranian territory starting Saturday, resulting in the martyrdom of hundreds and the wounding of many civilians.
In response, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced the start of Operation “True Promise 4,” targeting Israel and US bases in the region.
