Iranian Official Reveals Details of Latest Proposal Sent by Washington to Tehran

A member of the media team of the Iranian negotiating delegation, Saeed Ajorlou, revealed on Monday the details of the latest proposal sent by Washington to Tehran within the framework of Iranian-American negotiations mediated by Pakistan to stop the aggression against Iran.

Ajorlou told Fars News Agency: “Washington has conceded on the nuclear file regarding its previous demand, and now only proposes the phrase ‘determining the fate of materials,’ but we still insist on Iranian management of the Strait of Hormuz issue.”

He added: “The two issues of the Strait of Hormuz and nuclear matters are the important issues raised in the new proposed text. The American demand on the nuclear file has seen a noticeable change compared to the early days.”

He continued: “America has backed down from its exaggerated demands in the early days of negotiations,” explaining that “in the first phase of negotiations, the Americans initially demanded the transfer of Iranian nuclear materials to America, which Iran did not accept.”

According to Ajorlou, during subsequent negotiations, a proposal was made to transfer the materials outside Iran and then dispose of them, but none of these proposals were accepted by Tehran.

The member of the media team of the Iranian negotiating delegation said: “In the latest revised text sent by America, there is no longer talk of transferring or disposing of materials. Rather, only phrases such as ‘determining the fate,’ ‘the fate of materials,’ or ‘resolving the material issue’ are mentioned.”

He affirmed that Iran has not accepted any commitment regarding the transfer or destruction of its nuclear materials, and that even if negotiations progress, talk about the fate of these materials will be postponed to later stages.

Regarding the Strait of Hormuz, Ajorlou said: “There are still differences in this area, and our insistence is that Iranian management should prevail over it.”
