IRGC Launches Retaliatory Missile, Drone Strikes on US Fifth Fleet Base

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps announced in the early hours of Wednesday that it has carried out retaliatory missile and drone attacks against the headquarters of the US Fifth Fleet and other American military targets in response to repeated acts of aggression by the US.

In a statement released in the wee hours of June 3, the IRGC Public Relations Office said, “Late last night, the aggressive US military struck an Iranian oil tanker near the Strait of Hormuz with an aerial projectile, causing damage to the vessel in the engine room area.”

The statement added that “in response to this aggression and violation of the regulations governing the Strait of Hormuz, an American-Zionist enemy vessel named Panaya was targeted by missiles fired by the IRGC Navy.”

According to the IRGC, “in a renewed act of aggression, the American enemy targeted an IRGC communications tower in the south of Qeshm Island with aerial projectiles.”

“In response to this aggression, their (US’) air and helicopter base stationed in one of the countries of the region, as well as the center of the US Fifth Fleet, came under missile and drone attack by the IRGC Aerospace Force,” it added.

The IRGC further stated, “We had previously warned that in the event of aggression, the response would be different and heavier, and that is exactly what we did. These responses should have served as a lesson.”

“We reiterate that disrupting the security of the Strait of Hormuz will carry a heavy price for the aggressive US military,” the statement added.
