Every year, memorable and significant occasions pass for the Yemeni people, renewing feelings of pride and loyalty. At the forefront is the annual Martyr’s Anniversary, during which Yemenis recall the heroism and great sacrifices of the martyrs in defending land, honor, national sovereignty, in confronting global arrogance , its agents and mercenaries.
With the arrival of this occasion, Yemenis prepare to commemorate it by holding events, visiting martyrs’ cemeteries, and honoring their families, in recognition of their great sacrifices and the epics of courage, altruism, pride, loyalty, and belonging they embodied. It is also an opportunity to recall the sanctity of the cause they died for, the deep-rooted humanitarian and faith-based loyalty in the conscience of the nation.
Since the early 2000s, Yemen has made great sacrifices for its faith-based identity and its commitment to independent decision-making—beginning with the six wars in Sa’ada, passing through the U.S.-Saudi-Emirati aggression launched on March 26, 2015, and reaching the direct U.S.-Israeli aggression on the Yemeni people—within a continuous chain of assaults that confirm the greatness of Yemeni resilience and its steadfastness on its principles.
This year’s Martyr’s Anniversary, 1447 AH, comes as a spiritual and national moment to renew the pledge to continue on the path of the martyrs, draw lessons of determination, resolve, steadfastness, and reinforce the spirit of sacrifice in confronting the forces of arrogance and their tools—continuing along the course set by the martyrs with their pure blood until complete victory is achieved.
On this occasion, the call is renewed for state institutions and government bodies to assume their responsibility toward the families of the martyrs, ensuring full care and support for their living conditions, in recognition of the sacrifices of their sons, and away from seasonal attention limited only to the anniversary period.
There is also a growing need to strengthen the culture of martyrdom in collective consciousness, to reinforce the values of altruism, resilience, courage, and steadfastness embodied by the martyrs—contributing to building a firm societal awareness that understands the greatness of their sacrifices , the meanings of belonging, faith, giving for the sake of God and the homeland.
Under the leadership of the Revolution Leader, Sayyid Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, Yemen has drawn from the culture of jihad and martyrdom a strength of will and firmness in stance against its enemies, breaking the tyranny of the oppressors and foiling their schemes. Today, Yemen is more capable of imposing equations of deterrence and victory on various fronts.
Throughout eleven years of steadfastness, Yemen’s heroes have inflicted heavy losses on the forces of aggression and their mercenaries in multiple arenas, with God’s help and through the sacrifices of the martyrs and the legendary resilience of the Yemeni people who forged epics of pride and dignity. Yemen has now emerged as a present force in regional deterrence, defending the causesq of the Ummah and confronting the Israeli entity even deep inside the occupied territories.
In a previous speech, the Revolution Leader, Sayyid Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, emphasized the importance of commemorating the Martyr’s Anniversary as an occasion that embodies Yemeni suffering and demonstrates the steadfastness and readiness of the people to sacrifice. He explained that the culture of martyrdom builds honor and dignity and forms nations that cannot be defeated, no matter how fierce the aggression.
He further clarified that martyrdom in the path of God is a high rank and a great triumph, and that one of the core principles of faith is liberation from tyranny and full readiness for sacrifice. A nation that believes in the culture of martyrdom possesses the secret of its strength through its faith and readiness to give for the sake of God and truth.
The Martyr’s Anniversary remains an eternal moment in which Yemenis renew their pledge to honor the sacrifices of the heroes and affirm that the blood shed in defense of sovereignty and dignity will not be forgotten. The values for which the martyrs died will remain a beacon guiding future generations and instilling in souls the spirit of freedom and pride, no matter how great the arrogance and brutality of the enemy.
