Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemns UN Security Council Statement, its silence on Zionist crimes in Yemen & Gaza

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates strongly condemned the press statement issued yesterday by the UN Security Council regarding what it called the detention of UN staff.

In a statement, the Ministry said the Security Council, which laments over UN employees and certain diplomatic staff — who are in fact members of espionage cells involved in crimes against the country’s national security — has remained silent on the ongoing war crimes committed by the Zionist entity in Yemen, particularly the targeting of the Prime Minister of the Government of Change and Construction and his companions. The Council has also failed to adopt a single resolution condemning the genocide and starvation crimes against civilians and civilian infrastructure in Gaza, as well as the killing of humanitarian workers, whose number has reached 540.

The Ministry affirmed that this reflects double standards, undermines the credibility of the international organization, and demonstrates that the Security Council is a pliant tool in the hands of the United States, used to serve its interests and provide cover and protection for the Zionist entity.

The statement noted that while the Security Council expressed concern over the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Yemen, it ignored the fact that the ongoing aggression and blockade — imposed for ten consecutive years — are the direct cause. It also pointed out that the politicization of humanitarian work in Yemen has led the UN to reduce or even suspend aid in certain governorates, simply because of Yemen’s principled position in support of the Palestinian people in Gaza.

The Ministry reiterated Yemen’s respect for agreements related to the immunities and privileges of UN missions, diplomatic missions, and their staff. At the same time, it stressed that Yemeni security authorities will not hesitate to take all necessary measures to safeguard Yemen’s security and stability.

It further emphasized Yemen’s rejection of any pressure aimed at deterring it from its moral and humanitarian stance in support of Gaza or from exercising sovereign measures against anyone seeking to undermine the nation’s security and stability. The Ministry renewed its call for the United Nations and its affiliated organizations to respect Yemen’s sovereignty and national laws.
