Mohammed Abdel Salam: national delegation continues its contacts with regional, international parties to clarify our position on developments
In a statement, Abdul Salam indicated that the delegation affirms to everyone that “the operations carried out by our armed forces against Saudi ships, troop buildups, and camps stationed inside Yemen come within the framework of our legitimate response to the attacks to which our Yemeni people are subjected, especially the brutal attack on Sana’a Airport on July 13, 2026.”
He explained that Sana’a has adhered to the truce and de-escalation for four years and has not carried out any acts of aggression against Saudi Arabia. However, in return, Saudi Arabia has exploited this truce for a deliberate escalation in the economic and humanitarian spheres with the aim of exhausting the Yemeni people.
The head of the national delegation pointed out that Saudi Arabia has intensified its blockade on the Yemeni people through the arbitrary inspection procedures imposed on ships arriving at the port of Hodeidah, causing delays of months. He added that banks, money exchangers, and merchants are being targeted with decisions made by those residing in hotels, which has exacerbated the humanitarian crisis, increased costs, and negatively impacted Yemeni citizens who are now facing exorbitant price hikes.
He stated, “We affirm that we have never closed the door to dialogue and negotiation, and it is the Saudi side that rejects it. They have recently declared this quite clearly, contradicting their statements claiming to support peaceful solutions. By doing so, they are merely stalling to complete their conspiracies and military preparations to plunge the country into endless chaos and war. Therefore, the armed forces will continue to fulfill their national and responsible duty in confronting these conspiracies, defending the sovereignty, independence, and dignity of Yemen, and securing the full rights of the Yemeni people, Allah willing.”
He added, “In light of the regional and international communications that the national negotiating delegation is receiving regarding these developments, we affirm that any future path must result in achieving the legitimate rights of the Yemeni people, foremost among which is achieving the humanitarian files represented by opening airports and ports, disbursing salaries, resuming oil and gas exports and diverting them to services for the general Yemeni people, as is in the roadmap.”
