Head of the National Negotiating Delegation, Mohammed Abdulsalam, met today with the UN Special Envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, to discuss the progress of the peace process in Yemen.
In a post on the “X” platform, Abdulsalam said that the meeting with the UN envoy addressed the peace track outlined in the roadmap submitted to the United Nations and agreed upon with the Saudi side under the auspices of the Sultanate of Oman.
He pointed out the need to resume efforts to implement the roadmap, particularly its humanitarian obligations, emphasizing that there is no justification for further delays.
Abdulsalam also stated that the meeting discussed the issue of staff members from some organizations detained in Sana’a on charges of involvement in espionage networks, in the presence of Moein Shreim, who is handling this matter.
He affirmed that, in principle, there is no interest in detaining anyone working with humanitarian organizations without legal grounds, explaining:
“We presented the information provided by security authorities in Sana’a regarding the subversive activities carried out by the detainees. The relevant agencies are ready to present evidence and documents proving their involvement in espionage activities under the guise of humanitarian work. This is why Sana’a objects to the use of humanitarian organizations as cover for intelligence operations conducted by hostile countries.”
Abdulsalam added that such practices undermine trust in humanitarian organizations’ work, stressing that despite the situation, Sana’a remains keen on finding fair and reasonable solutions and maintaining coordination to ensure that humanitarian and relief organizations continue their authorized activities without repeating such security violations.
