Occupation Envoy Displays Ansarullah Slogan at UN, Implicitly Acknowledges Yemen as ‘Existential Threat’
The Israeli enemy’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Danny Danon, sparked controversy on Wednesday after holding up a large placard bearing the Ansarullah slogan known as “Al-Sarkha” during a UN Security Council session—an act widely seen as reflecting growing disarray within the Zionist entity.
During his remarks, Danon sought to rally international sympathy by portraying the slogan as an expression of “pure hatred,” while overlooking its historical and political origins as a reaction to decades of occupation, aggression, and mass killing committed by the Zionist entity across the region.
Notably, Danon went further by implicitly acknowledging that Yemen now represents a direct “existential threat” to the Zionist entity, arguing that the confrontation with Sana’a transcends traditional notions of territory and borders.
Observers say the scene amounted to a public admission, within the halls of the United Nations, of the failure of military pressure to deter Yemen from maintaining its stance. The moment was also viewed as a symbolic victory for the slogan itself, which has evolved from chants in Yemen’s Sa’adah mountains into a message unsettling Zionist leaders in international forums and on key maritime fronts.
The incident comes amid the continued expansion of Yemen’s military capabilities, as US- and British-led efforts have failed to provide full protection to shipping linked to the Zionist entity in the Red Sea and adjacent waterways.
Rather than undermining Yemen’s position, analysts argue that Danon’s display amounted to reverse publicity—effectively amplifying the slogan on a global stage and underscoring which side is increasingly uneasy. This stands in contrast to the Zionist entity’s ongoing record of large-scale crimes against civilians in Gaza and Lebanon.
The Ansarullah slogan known as “Al-Sarkha” emerged more than two decades ago as part of Yemen’s Qur’anic Project, which openly opposes US and Zionist domination and foreign aggression in the region. Since its launch, the project has been persistently targeted through US- and Israeli-backed wars and political pressure aimed at dismantling its ideological and mobilizational influence.
Despite years of conflict, these efforts failed to break the resolve of the Yemeni people or halt the project’s educational and awareness-driven mission, which has continued to expand in scope and impact. Recent US and Zionist statements, including remarks by US President Donald Trump rejecting the slogan’s presence in the region, are widely seen as reflecting growing concern over its political and symbolic influence.
