Palestinian Analyst: Yemen’s Million-Strong Rallies Prove Palestinian Cause Deeply Rooted

Palestinian writer and political analyst Asri Fayyad has affirmed that the million-strong crowds witnessed in Yemeni squares in support of Palestine reveal the deep roots of the Palestinian cause in Yemeni popular consciousness and confirm that supporting the Palestinian people is a steadfast choice that transcends the pressures, aggression, and challenges facing Yemen.

In an interview with Almasirah TV on Saturday, Fayyad explained that scenes of millions of Yemenis pouring into public squares and raising pro-Palestine slogans—despite the aggression and challenges their country faces—indicate the strength of popular cohesion, the vitality of the Yemeni revolution, and the depth of the emotional and political connection between the Yemeni people and the Palestinian cause.
He noted that the continuation of the Yemeni popular presence in support of Palestine under the difficult circumstances Yemen is experiencing carries important implications. He pointed out that many peoples might not have been able to maintain this level of solidarity if subjected to the scale of pressures and attacks Yemen faces, regardless of their relationship with the Palestinian cause.
He explained that the Yemeni people continue to adhere to the Palestinians’ right to full liberation and raise their voices in support of Gaza, Quds, and the West Bank, in a scene that confirms a firm conviction that the Palestinian cause represents a central cause that cannot be abandoned or removed from the circle of popular concern, no matter how numerous the crises and how severe the challenges.
Yemen’s Position: A Model of Advanced Solidarity
The Palestinian analyst noted that Yemen’s position—popularly and officially—during the years of aggression and the Zionist war of genocide on the Gaza Strip embodied an advanced level of solidarity with the Palestinian people. He explained that Yemen’s supportive positions toward the Palestinian cause acquire additional importance given the circumstances it faces and the pressures it is subjected to.
He added that this Yemeni position intersects in its dimensions with the positions of Arab resistance forces and components of the Axis of Resistance that stood alongside the Palestinian people. He affirmed that Palestinians view with great appreciation and respect the positions that expressed actual solidarity with their cause, especially amid the expanding scale of humanitarian suffering in the Gaza Strip and the continuation of Zionist attacks.
Fayyad stressed that the continued turnout of Yemeni masses in the squares and their raising of freedom and liberation slogans—despite security and military challenges—reflects a clear popular adherence to the Palestinian cause and confirms that this presence cannot be interpreted as a temporary response but is an expression of a deeply rooted conviction among wide segments of Yemenis.
He stated that the Yemeni masses play an influential role in shaping the country’s general orientations, and that the political and military leadership takes into account popular positions and their directions, reflecting a state of interaction between society and leadership in determining national and pan-Arab priorities.
He noted that the million-strong crowds also reveal a level of harmony between the Yemeni people and their leadership, considering that this harmony represents one of the elements of strength on which the Yemeni leadership relies in facing challenges and grants declared positions toward Palestine broad popular extension.
Awareness Beyond Slogans
The Palestinian politician mentioned that the level of awareness shown by participants goes beyond repeating slogans, as it reveals an understanding of the nature of the conflict and the place of the Palestinian cause within the region’s equations, alongside adherence to demands for lifting the siege on Yemen, confronting the aggression, and continuing to support the Palestinian people in various phases.
He added that the continuous popular presence expresses Yemenis’ determination to combine defending their country and supporting Palestine, rejecting the separation of causes they consider interconnected in confronting the Zionist project and foreign interventions, as reflected in the slogans and positions declared in Yemeni squares.
He noted that the continuation of this popular momentum, despite the geographical distances separating Yemen and Palestine, proves that the Palestinian cause is strongly present in Yemenis’ consciousness and that solidarity with it is linked to a principled position on the Palestinian people’s right to freedom, independence, and the restoration of their land.
He explained that the aspirations of the Yemeni masses, as shown by the slogans raised in the squares, do not stop at the limits of confronting internal challenges or ending the aggression on Yemen but extend to supporting Palestine and achieving its people’s aspirations for liberation. He explained that the slogan of liberating Palestine from the river to the sea reveals the ceiling of ambition to which wide segments of the masses participating in events supporting the Palestinian cause adhere.
The million-strong rallies in Sana’a and other Yemeni cities, held regularly since the beginning of the Al-Aqsa Flood operation, serve to demonstrate popular support for the Palestinian cause and to reinforce Yemen’s alignment with the Axis of Resistance.
