Parliament Affirms Support for Legitimate National Positions, Options

The Parliament affirmed its full support for legitimate national positions and options in defending the homeland and its sovereignty.

In a statement issued on Saturday the Parliament explained that the position of the armed forces was an inevitable response to the just and rightful demands of the Yemeni people, foremost among them the lifting of the unjust blockade imposed by the Saudi regime for nearly 12 years, which has caused the world’s largest humanitarian catastrophe.

It noted that instead of responding to calls for peace and humanitarian obligations, the Saudi enemy has persisted in escalation and aggression, targeting civilian facilities and infrastructure, beginning with the brutal attack on Sana’a International Airport and extending to the targeting of the city and port of Hodeidah and Kamaran Island, in order to exacerbate the suffering of the Yemeni people and further besiege them.

The statement condemned the continued blockade and aggression as unacceptable criminal behavior, regardless of the consequences, affirming that the Yemeni people and their armed forces have the right to take all appropriate measures to deter this aggression and restore all legitimate rights.

The Yemeni Parliament held the Saudi regime fully responsible for the consequences of this dangerous escalation, which threatens the security and stability of the region.

It called upon Arab, regional, and international parliaments and parliamentary unions to denounce Saudi intransigence and aggressive practices that exacerbate the suffering of the Yemeni people. It also called for condemnation of the Saudi regime’s attempts to circumvent previous agreements and disregard the implementation of the roadmap and all initiatives and efforts aimed at achieving a comprehensive and just peace. The Parliament urged these bodies to take courageous and responsible stances to pressure for the full reopening of Yemeni ports and airports and the lifting of the blockade as a non-negotiable humanitarian priority.

The Yemeni Parliament emphasized that the blockade and starvation of the Yemeni people are unacceptable, and that Yemen’s sovereignty and the security of its people are a red line that cannot be crossed.
