President Al-Mashat: ‘Siege for Siege’ Continues Until Objectives Met
President Mahdi Al-Mashat, head of the Supreme Political Council, has affirmed that agreements do not apply retroactively, and that the “siege for siege” equation will continue until its objectives are achieved.
In a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (SABA), Al-Mashat stated: “Whoever wants to join the Saudi aggressor in its aggression and siege—which has continued for 12 years—is an aggressor, even if they wrap this participation in shiny titles.”
“Yemeni law has determined how to deal with hostile states.”
A Direct Message to Saudi Arabia
Addressing the Saudi regime directly, Al-Mashat said: “Even if you rally the entire world to your side, it will not benefit you. The cost of a just, honorable peace and good neighborliness is far less than war.”
Al-Mashat’s statement comes amid escalating tensions following Yemen’s declaration of a naval blockade on Saudi Arabia and reports of Saudi efforts to form an international coalition to protect Red Sea navigation. The “siege for siege” equation has become the central pillar of Yemen’s strategy and as a necessary response to Saudi aggression.
