President Congratulates Republic of Iraq on Withdrawal of US Forces

Mahdi Al-Mashat, President of the Supreme Political Council, congratulated the brotherly Republic of Iraq—its leadership, government, people, resistance, and religious authority—on the great historic achievement and national victory represented by the withdrawal of US and foreign forces from its territory, this follows the shattering of their ambitions and their failure to achieve their objectives in the face of the Iraqi people’s will and their determination to secure freedom, sovereignty, and independence.

In a congratulatory cable, President Al-Mashat emphasized that this achievement comes after more than two decades of invasion, occupation, and hegemony—a period marked by the oppression of the Iraqi people, the sowing of discord, the plundering of resources, and the resulting destruction and suffering.

He stated, “This historic step represents the culmination of the Iraqi people’s steadfastness, resistance, and immense sacrifices, and affirms their inherent right to sovereignty, independence, and self-determination.”
