Rezaei: Any New American Aggression Must Be Responded to with Multiple Options, Including Changing Nuclear Doctrine
The spokesperson for the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, Ibrahim Rezaei, affirmed that withdrawing from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, changing the nuclear doctrine, and closing the Bab al-Mandab Strait, in addition to the Strait of Hormuz, are among the options that may be considered.
In statements to Fars News Agency on Wednesday, Rezaei said, regarding the unilateral US withdrawal from the memorandum of understanding and the attacks that targeted the country’s infrastructure last night: “If the American regime attacks our country again, we will respond with all our might, and we are fully prepared to deliver a decisive and strong response to the Americans.”
He emphasized that, given the valuable experience gained during the Twelve-Day War and the Third Imposed War, we have now found a way to defeat and humiliate our enemies, and we know well how to defeat the Americans.
He explained that in the Third Imposed War, we expanded the battlefield to the regional level and confronted the enemy in regional arenas, affirming: “In the next confrontation, the enemy will face a comprehensive and surprise attack from the Islamic Republic of Iran—an attack that will not be limited to the military arena alone; we will use all our strength on the Axis of Resistance to crush American assets, installations, forces, equipment, and bases in the region, and at the same time focus on other strategic options.”
Rezaei continued: “We have many options that we did not even use during the Forty-Day War, and if the Americans attack again, we will study those options.” He noted that closing the Bab al-Mandab Strait, in addition to the Strait of Hormuz, is one of the options on the table.
He added: “We have another option: withdrawing from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, which is likely to be placed on the agenda, and the plan for this withdrawal is ready for discussion in Parliament.”
He continued: “Another option that will be considered in the event of a full-scale American attack is changing the nuclear doctrine of the Islamic Republic of Iran—an option we will also consider if we feel an existential threat against us.”
Referring to Trump’s insults to the Iranian nation at the NATO summit, the spokesperson considered these statements to stem from anger, evidence of the strength of the Iranian people, and the Americans’ despair.
The spokesperson for the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee added: “Trump has failed to achieve the goals he was seeking in Iran, including its occupation, division, and destruction, and he has received painful blows in the region in recent months and days. That is why he resorted to insulting and belittling the Iranian people, and of course, such insults are befitting of Trump and the Americans themselves.”
Referring to the history of America’s founding, Rezaei stated: “We do not forget that the scum of Europe are the ones who founded the United States. America’s land was brought by Europe’s dregs, thugs, and lowlifes—and this is a historical fact. As for Iran, it is a civilized country with a rich history spanning ten thousand years, and Trump’s insults will only increase our cohesion in confronting the enemy.”
