A Saudi airstrike targeted several homes in Jabal Habashi district in Yemen’s Taiz province, injuring six civilians, most of them women and children, and causing extensive damage to residential properties, according to Al-Masirah’s correspondent in the province.
The strike hit several homes in Al-Ahjaf village, in the Milad area of Jabal Habashi district. It also killed several livestock animals and caused significant material damage to nearby homes and property.
Residential Damage and Civilian Losses
Footage from the scene showed residents standing outside damaged homes amid extensive destruction. Residents said the strike affected several houses in the targeted neighborhood, leaving families facing losses of shelter, household belongings and sources of livelihood.
One resident said the attack had severely damaged his property and left his family facing difficult living conditions. Another resident, standing amid the rubble of his home, questioned why his house and family had been subjected to the bombing, stressing that homes should provide a safe refuge for civilians and children.
Residents said the damage extended to several neighboring houses, increasing the hardship faced by affected families and raising concerns about further attacks. The destruction of livestock, which many households rely on to meet their daily needs, has added to the economic burden.
Calls for Investigation and Accountability
Residents said the latest strike was part of a series of attacks on residential areas and civilian property since the Saudi-led military intervention in Yemen began in 2015. They warned that continued attacks on homes were worsening humanitarian conditions and making it increasingly difficult for families to meet basic needs and rebuild their lives.
Those affected called for the damage to their homes and property to be documented and their testimonies conveyed to international and human rights organizations. They also urged an investigation into the circumstances of the strike, accountability for any violations against civilians, and measures to protect residents and their property.
Yemen has endured years of conflict since the Saudi-led military aggression began in March 2015, with airstrikes and fighting causing extensive damage to civilian infrastructure and contributing to a prolonged humanitarian crisis.
Sana’a maintains that Saudi military operations and the blockade imposed on Yemen constitute ongoing aggression, and says its military actions against Saudi targets are a response to those attacks. The circumstances of the latest strike and the reported casualties would require independent investigation.
