The number of deaths from famine and malnutrition in the Gaza Strip has risen to 235, including 106 children, according to the Government Media Office on Wednesday evening.
The statement from the Government Media indicated that the victims include 129 people—19 women, 75 elderly individuals, and 35 men over 18 years old—resulting from the ongoing strict blockade, closure of crossings, and denial of food and medicine, leading to an unprecedented humanitarian disaster in hospitals and health centers.
The statement also revealed alarming indicators, including 40,000 infants (under one year old) suffering from life-threatening malnutrition, 250,000 children (under five) experiencing severe food shortages, and more than 1.2 million children (under 18) living in a state of acute food insecurity.
The Government Media emphasized that these figures reflect the scale of the systematic crime committed by the Israeli enemy against civilians in Gaza, using starvation as a weapon of war.
It called on the international community, the United Nations, and all human rights, humanitarian, and legal organizations to take immediate action to ensure the flow of food and medicine, lift the blockade, and open crossings to save civilian lives.
In recent days, deaths from malnutrition have increased, with children’s bodies reduced to skeletal frames, and fainting incidents rising among many Gazans as hunger worsens amid food shortages.
Recently, UNICEF, through its Deputy Executive Director Ted Chaiban, warned that children in Gaza are dying at an unprecedented rate, as the hunger crisis intensifies and the humanitarian situation collapses due to the ongoing Israeli aggression since October 7, 2023.
