Two Years of Genocide: Zionist Enemy Destroys 90% of Gaza Strip

Over the course of two years—specifically since October 7, 2023—the Zionist enemy has completely destroyed cities, camps, homes, facilities, and residential neighborhoods across the Gaza Strip. Entire residential blocks and numerous towers have been blown up through direct bombardment with hundreds of thousands of tons of explosives, displacing more than 1.5 million Palestinians from their homes.

According to the Government Media Office, the Israeli occupation has destroyed 90% of Gaza across all sectors over the past 730 days, dropping 200,000 tons of explosives on various areas of the Strip.

The report stated that over the two years of genocide, the occupation army has completely destroyed 268,000 housing units, severely damaged 148,000, and partially damaged 153,000, leaving more than 288,000 Palestinian families homeless. In addition, over 125,000 tents out of 135,000 for displaced persons have become uninhabitable due to wear and destruction.

The enemy has caused damage to 95% of Gaza’s schools, with more than 90% now requiring complete reconstruction or major rehabilitation. About 668 school buildings—roughly 80% of all schools—were directly bombed, while 165 schools, universities, and educational institutions were completely destroyed and 392 partially damaged.

More than 700,000 linear meters of water networks and an equivalent length of sewage networks were destroyed, along with over three million linear meters of roads and streets.

The occupation forces also destroyed 5,080 kilometers of electrical networks, 2,285 transformers, and deprived Gaza of more than 2.123 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity throughout the genocide.

Additionally, the Israeli army destroyed 247 government buildings, 292 sports facilities, and 208 archaeological and heritage sites.

More than 835 mosques were completely destroyed, and over 180 mosques were partially damaged. Three churches were bombed multiple times, and 40 cemeteries were destroyed out of 60 in total.

The occupation also bombed or destroyed 38 hospitals, rendering them inoperable, along with 96 primary healthcare centers and 197 ambulances.

More than 94% of agricultural lands—out of a total of 178,000 dunams—have been destroyed, in addition to 1,223 agricultural wells and 665 livestock and poultry farms.

According to the Gaza Government Media Office, the initial direct losses in 15 key sectors due to the Zionist genocide amount to $70 billion.

Palestinian reports show that the occupation completely destroyed the cities of Beit Hanoun, Beit Lahia, Sheikh Zayed, and Jabalia in northern Gaza, leveling them to rubble with hundreds of missiles and shells. It also caused extensive destruction in Gaza City, as well as in southern and central areas of the Strip.

Entire neighborhoods—Al-Shati Camp, Al-Nasr, Al-Shuja’iyya, Sheikh Radwan, Al-Zahra City, and Al-Rimal District—were flattened after their residents were displaced, with thousands of civilians massacred. Khan Yunis and Deir al-Balah also suffered massive destruction.

Recently, the occupation forces destroyed entire residential blocks and towers in Gaza City that sheltered hundreds of displaced families, under false pretexts. It had previously razed the Al-Bureij, Al-Maghazi, and Al-Nuseirat camps, killing hundreds as entire blocks collapsed on their inhabitants.

Between October 7, 2023, and July 8, 2025, around 190,115 buildings were damaged, including 102,067 completely destroyed—double the number from the first year of the assault. About 41,895 buildings suffered moderate damage, and 330,500 housing units were affected.

Estimates indicate that over one million displaced people now live in overcrowded tent areas or in the few remaining habitable structures in northern Gaza.

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights expressed grave concern over the level of destruction in Gaza City—the Strip’s main urban center—warning that any deliberate population transfer would amount to ethnic cleansing.

Since October 7, 2023, the Gaza Strip has faced an ongoing campaign of mass destruction and genocide by the Zionist enemy, resulting in massive forced displacement. As of July 11, 2025, there are over two million displaced Palestinians, with entire cities, neighborhoods, refugee camps, and residential towers reduced to rubble.
