Yemen: Air Defenses Repel Israeli Airstrikes on Sana’a

Yemen’s Ministry of Defense said Sunday that its air defenses intercepted and repelled brutal Zionist aggression targeting the capital, Sana’a, forcing attacking aircraft to withdraw.

Military sources confirmed that Israeli warplanes carried out several raids on the Yemen Oil Company station on Al-Sittin Street and the central Haziz power station south of the capital. The strikes ignited fires and damaged civilian infrastructure.

Mohammed Al-Farrah, a member of Ansarullah’s Political Bureau, also condemned the attacks, saying they targeted civilian infrastructure and were part of Israel’s broader regional aggression. He stressed that Yemen’s missile and drone operations will continue in support of Gaza until the war and siege end.

Meanwhile, Israeli media, including Channel 12, reported that the strikes were launched in response to continued Yemeni missile and drone attacks, with claimed targets including a power station, presidential facilities, and missile bases. Israeli analysts warned that Yemen has succeeded in imposing a “war of attrition” on Israel’s home front.

The airstrikes on Sana’a came a day after Israeli media reported growing concern over Yemen’s advancing missile capabilities. Israeli outlets cited air force sources saying Yemen may have used a multiple-warhead ballistic missile for the first time, a development that could challenge Israel’s missile defense systems.

Since late 2023, Yemen has intensified operations in response to the Israeli enemy’s war on Gaza, combining a naval blockade of Israel-linked shipping in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden with long-range missile and drone strikes deep inside occupied territories. The latest escalation, including hypersonic and suspected multiple-warhead missiles, has amplified pressure on Israel’s security establishment and provoked retaliatory strikes on Yemen.
