The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Abdul Wahid Abu Ras, sent a letter to the Algerian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, in which he affirmed that Yemen appreciates Algeria’s commendable stance in supporting the Palestinian people’s cause in international forums, particularly during its current membership in the UN Security Council.
In his letter, the Deputy Minister stated that these positions are a continuation of decades of solidarity and support dating back to the French occupation of Algeria, when the leaders of the Algerian revolution raised the slogan “Algerian independence is incomplete without Palestinian independence,” a principle reiterated by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
He noted that the declaration of the establishment of the State of Palestine in 1988 was issued from Algeria, and that these positions stem from shared religious and fraternal ties, as well as moral and humanitarian principles.
He called for further cooperation, coordination of positions, and unity of action through practical steps that meet the aspirations of the Arab and Muslim peoples, and that halt the crimes and expansionist ambitions of the Zionist entity, which target all countries in the region, especially in light of the continued US vetoes that shield Israeli crimes and the UN Security Council’s failure to fulfill its obligations to maintain international peace and security.
The Deputy Minister reiterated the Republic of Yemen’s unwavering support for all just causes of the Arab and Muslim nations, and in particular, the Palestinian cause.
