Committee to Protect Journalists: “Israel” escaped punishment for killing journalists for 24 Years

The president of the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), Jodie Ginsberg, said on Sunday that “Israel” has never been held accountable for killing any journalist in the past 24 years.

In a press statement, she added that more than 200 journalists, including Shireen Abu Akleh, have been killed by “Israel” since 2022, emphasizing that this constitutes a serious threat to journalism worldwide, as the killers of journalists escape punishment.

Ginsberg pointed out that “Israel” continues to blatantly violate international humanitarian law, and that the international community has failed to compel it to respect this law, which exacerbates the risks faced by media professionals in conflict zones.

Last Wednesday, the Government Media Office in the Gaza Strip announced that the number of journalists killed had risen to 256 since the beginning of the genocidal war on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, following the announcement of the death of journalist Mohammed al-Munirawi, who worked for the Palestine newspaper.
