Ansarullah Congratulates Hezbollah on 20th Anniversary of 2006 Victory

Yemen’s Ansarullah Political Bureau has congratulated Hezbollah Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem and the Lebanese Islamic Resistance on the 20th anniversary of the historic July 2006 victory against the Israeli enemy.

In a statement, the bureau said Israel’s 2006 war on Lebanon failed to achieve its political and military objectives, praising Hezbollah’s 33-day resistance and its ability to establish a strategic deterrence balance and new rules of engagement with the Israeli enemy.

It stated that Hezbollah’s victory and sacrifices had provided a model for the Arab and Muslim world and contributed to thwarting US-Israeli projects in the region, including the proposed “New Middle East.”

The statement also paid tribute to former Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, describing his role in supporting Palestinians and Yemenis and defending the rights of oppressed peoples.

Ansarullah said that the US and Israeli targeting of Lebanon and Hezbollah, both in 2006 and since 2023, was linked to the group’s support for the Palestinian cause and its opposition to US and Israeli projects in Lebanon and the wider region.

The July Victory refers to the outcome of the 34-day 2006 war between the Lebanese resistance, led by Hezbollah, and the Israeli enemy. The war ended with a ceasefire on August 14, 2006, and the anniversary has since been commemorated by the resistance as a landmark victory.
